Teledyne Partners with Baader Planetarium for Space Surveillance

Teledyne Princeton Instruments is pleased to announce that its COSMOS cameras have been selected for a prestigious space surveillance project with the German army (Bundeswehr). Baader Planetarium, a subcontractor on the project will integrate both the COSMOS-8k and COSMOS-6k on the PW1000 and RC1000 telescopes from PlaneWave Instruments.

The COSMOS cameras are perfectly suited for Space Situational Awareness applications, thanks to their high sensitivity with over 90% quantum efficiency and read noise as low as 0.7e-. Combined with a 115mm diagonal sensor, these cameras offer an unprecedented field of view, making them ideal for detecting and observing even the weakest orbital and Near-Earth Objects.

We are proud to be part of this cutting-edge Space Surveillance project and look forward to contributing to advancements in space surveillance technology.

COSMOS Camera for Space Situational Awareness

The Teledyne COSMOS camera is designed with several features that make it ideal for space situational awareness:

Large Imaging Area: The camera has a large format sensor, which allows it to capture extensive areas of the sky in a single frame. This is crucial for monitoring and tracking objects in space.

High Sensitivity: Equipped with LACera technology, the COSMOS camera offers superior sensitivity, enabling it to detect faint objects that might otherwise be missed

Low Noise: The camera is designed to produce low noise images, which enhances the clarity and accuracy of the data collected. This is particularly important for distinguishing between different objects in space.

Fast Frame Rate: The COSMOS camera can capture images at a high frame rate, allowing for real-time monitoring and quick response to changes in the space environment
