Evolve
The Evolve is a high-resolution, back-illuminated EMCCD providing high sensitivity for the lowest light applications. With proprietary Teledyne technology throughout, the Evolve provides a new standard in EMCCD performance and reliability. The Evolve is an ideal solution for ultra-low-light conditions, achieving the best imaging performance when every photon counts.
The New Standard For EMCCD
Our Evolve series of EMCCDs have evolved, now featuring the Evolve10, Evolve13 and Evolve16 cameras, a flexible yet powerful range to suit your imaging, magnification and field of view needs. For when you need superior signal to noise when imaging just a handful of photons, the Evolve series is here.
Built with Teledyne EMCCD Technology
Here at Teledyne, collaboration is opening new doors for meeting customers’ imaging needs. The Evolve range includes world-leading EMCCD sensors designed and manufactured by Teledyne e2v. These are integrated into cutting edge cameras by Teledyne Photometrics.
Across Teledyne, our united experience and expertise crosses application boundaries from astronomy, life science, industrial imaging and more. We have the answers to your imaging needs.
Superior Signal to Noise for Faint Signals
When you can count your photons on one hand, you need the lowest noise possible. Alongside back-illumination for maximum quantum efficiency, the Evolve series uses Electron Multiplication to achieve a read noise as low as 0.25e- without sacrificing frame rate.
Various Pixel Size Options To Match Your Optical System
Pixel size choice is a balance of resolution and sensitivity – larger pixel areas collect more photons. The Evolve range includes 13 and 16 μm pixel cameras to provide optimum sensitivity. However, resolution was previously limited for EMCCDs due to a lack of smaller pixel size options.
Now with sensor manufacture taking place in-house, Teledyne is able to offer a 10 μm pixel back-illuminated EMCCD, the Evolve 10, matching the required pixel size for 100x oil immersion microscope objectives.
Frame Rate Flexibility
Full-frame imaging rates of up to 61 fps can be sustained in high speed readout mode, with frame rates greater than 4,000fps available when imaging with regions of interest.
Excellent Noise Uniformity
Through their single output amplifier, EMCCDs offer uniform noise performance across the sensor. This is highly advantageous for analysis in many single-molecule fluorescence imaging techniques.
The Evolve series fine tunes the performance of EMCCD sensors to provide excellent image quality though careful electronic design and calibration.
