Motion blur is the streaking of rapidly moving objects in an image. This article offers a brief explanation of motion blur and provides a method of calculating how much a subject will blur.       

Motion blur is the streaking of rapidly moving objects in an image. When objects move during exposure (integration), they may be captured by adjacent pixels, causing them to look smeared in the direction of motion of the object. This spreadsheet provides a method of calculating how may pixels an object will cross during integration, and predicting approximately how much the subject will blur, based on the following factors that contribute to this effect:

• • Field of view - increasing the FOV will decrease motion blur
  • Distance to the object
  • Shutter time
  • Speed of the object
